East Troy, Wisconsin, boasts a rich history dating back to 1836. Originally settled with western and eastern territories, the western part was named Meacham, while the eastern part remained Troy. Legend says that Jacob Burgit, representing the eastern territory, raced to the capital to keep the name Troy, resulting in the name East Troy.
