Welcome to Sullivan, Maine! This charming town in Hancock County, also known as 'Sully' or 'the Sullivans' due to its collection of smaller villages, officially became a town in 1789, named after Daniel Sullivan, one of its first settlers. Today, Sullivan is a peaceful residential community where many commute to nearby Ellsworth and Mount Desert Island. As of 2010, the population was 1,236, primarily White (95.6%). The town's main offices are located on U.S. 1. Interestingly, the US Route 1 Bridge connects Sullivan to Hancock, and the Sullivan Municipal Building and Town Hall reside in the old Sullivan High School.
