West Yarmouth boasts a rich history, once being a much larger part of 'Old' Yarmouth, which included lands now known as Chatham, Harwich, Brewster, Dennis, and even parts of Barnstable. In the late 17th century, Native Americans began selling land to European farmers, leading to the establishment of a reservation in South Yarmouth in 1713.
